Confidential Sexual Health Check: Your Health, Your Peace of Mind

Taking care of your sexual health is a fundamental and responsible part of your overall wellbeing. Whether you are entering a new relationship, have concerns about a recent encounter, or simply want the reassurance of a routine check-up, making the time for a sexual health screen is a sign of strength and self-care.

At Happiher, we provide a completely confidential, discreet, and non-judgmental Sexual Health Check service. In our private and specialist-led clinic, your comfort and privacy are our absolute priorities. Our goal is to provide you with swift, accurate results and the peace of mind that comes from knowing your status.

Our Philosophy: Proactive, Reassuring, and Completely Confidential

We have created a service designed to remove the barriers and anxiety often associated with sexual health testing.

  • A Private & Specialist Environment: Your consultation and testing are conducted in the calm, professional setting of a private gynaecology clinic, not a large, busy public clinic.
  • Non-Judgmental Care: We are here to provide medical care and support, period. Our consultations are a safe space for you to discuss your concerns openly and honestly.
  • Comprehensive Testing: Our service provides a full screen for the most common and important sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
  • Swift and Discreet Results: We understand that waiting for results can be stressful. We ensure you receive your results quickly and with complete confidentiality.

What Does Our Comprehensive Sexual Health Check Include?

Our standard screen is designed to be thorough, testing for the most common infections using the most reliable and modern methods available.

  1. The Confidential Consultation
The appointment begins with a discreet conversation with Dr. Kaur. This allows you to discuss any specific symptoms or concerns you may have and helps us ensure we are providing the right tests for you.
  2. The Testing Process
A full screen typically involves two simple steps:
  • A Simple Blood Test: This is used to test for:
    • HIV
    • Syphilis
    • Hepatitis B & C
  • Vaginal Swabs: You can often take these swabs yourself in the privacy of a bathroom for maximum comfort. These swabs are used to test for:
    • Chlamydia
    • Gonorrhoea

We use highly accurate laboratory tests (PCR and serology) to ensure the reliability of your results.

Who Should Consider a Sexual Health Check?

It is a good idea for anyone who is sexually active to have regular check-ups. It is particularly recommended if:

  • You are starting a new sexual relationship.
  • You or your partner have had other sexual partners.
  • You have any symptoms that are causing you concern, such as unusual discharge, sores, or pelvic pain.
  • You simply want the reassurance of a routine screen.

Your Patient Journey: Simple, Discreet, and Supportive

  1. The Appointment: Your consultation and sample collection are completed in a single, efficient outpatient visit.
  2. Receiving Your Results: Your results are typically available within 3 to 5 working days. We will contact you via your preferred, confidential method to deliver your results as soon as they are ready.
  3. Treatment and Next Steps: In the event of a positive result, please be reassured that most STIs are easily treatable with a simple course of antibiotics. Dr. Kaur will provide a private prescription and a clear treatment plan immediately. We will also provide guidance on informing any relevant partners, which is a crucial step in preventing further transmission.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. What is the “window period” for testing?
The window period is the time it takes from potential exposure to an infection for it to show up on a test. For the most accurate results, it is generally best to wait:
    • 2 weeks for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea.
    • 4-6 weeks for HIV and Syphilis (though modern tests can often detect HIV earlier).
  1. Will the consultation and results be on my main NHS record?
As a private service, your visit and results are completely confidential to our clinic. They will not be shared with your GP or added to your NHS record without your explicit consent.
  2. Do I need to have a physical examination?
Not necessarily. For a routine asymptomatic screen, a physical examination is often not required. The tests can be completed with a blood sample and self-taken swabs.
  3. I have symptoms. Should I wait to get tested?
No. If you have active symptoms, you should book an appointment to be seen and tested as soon as possible.
