Frequently asked questions
Where are you located?
Dr Kaur offers consultations at several conveniently located outpatient centres across London, including The Lister Hospital, Chelsea Outpatient Centre, The Wellington Hospital Outpatients, and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. She also runs a regular clinic in Hertfordshire (Elstree), making her care accessible to patients across both regions. With extensive expertise spanning the breadth of gynaecological health, Dr Kaur provides comprehensive, high-quality care for a wide range of conditions at all of these locations.
Where would patients be admitted if a procedure is required?
If surgery or an inpatient stay is required, Dr Kaur has admitting privileges at some of London’s leading private hospitals, including The Lister Hospital, The Wellington Hospital, and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Dr Kaur will guide you in selecting the most appropriate hospital based on the nature of your procedure and your travel preferences. All hospitals are recognised by major insurance providers, and you will not be restricted to a single location for your outpatient care or surgery.
Which insurance companies do you work with?
Dr Kaur is recognised by a wide range of UK and international health insurance providers. For further information about cover and eligibility, we recommend contacting both your insurer and our clinic on 020 4524 3782. In most cases, a referral letter from your GP and pre-authorisation from your insurer will be required, unless you are being seen in an emergency. When speaking with your insurer, please quote Dr Kaur’s GMC number: 7532829.
How do you work with self-pay patients?
Dr Kaur understands that many patients choose to self-fund their care. While a GP referral letter is preferred, it is not always required. A range of self-pay packages with transparent, upfront pricing is available and can be found on the Fees page of our website. If you have any questions about the cost of care, please don’t hesitate to contact our team directly.
Is there a minimum age for an appointment?
The minimum age for appointments is typically 18.
What are common causes of pelvic pain and when should I see a doctor?
Pelvic pain can have many causes, ranging from benign conditions to those requiring treatment. Common causes include endometriosis, ovarian cysts, fibroids, pelvic inflammatory disease, irritable bowel syndrome, urinary tract infections, and musculoskeletal problems. You should seek medical advice if pelvic pain is persistent, worsening, or affecting your daily life, or if it is associated with heavy periods, painful intercourse, bloating, or changes in bowel or bladder habits. Dr Kaur offers comprehensive diagnostic assessments—including ultrasound and advanced imaging—to identify the underlying cause and provide a tailored treatment plan.
What symptoms suggest endometriosis or PCOS?
Symptoms of endometriosis may include painful or heavy periods, pain during sex, chronic pelvic pain, bloating, fatigue, or difficulty conceiving. Symptoms of PCOS can include irregular periods, acne, excess hair growth, scalp hair thinning, weight changes, and fertility difficulties. If you experience any of these symptoms, it is important to see a specialist for evaluation. Dr Kaur provides advanced diagnostic imaging and offers evidence-based medical and surgical management for both conditions.
What should I bring to my first private gynaecology appointment?
Please bring any relevant medical records, previous scan or test results, and a list of current medications. If you have private medical insurance, bring your membership details and pre-authorisation number if available. A GP referral letter is helpful but not always required. You may also wish to write down your symptoms and any questions in advance to ensure your consultation is as focused and informative as possible.
